Our Favorite Preschool Halloween Books

Halloween is just 2 weeks away! To say my almost 4 year old is excited, is an understatement. We have been reading Halloween books now for at least a month, and I imagine we will read them well past Halloween. There is something so fun about the fantasy and excitement of Halloween!

Here are some of our favorite Halloween books this year:

"Little Blue Truck's Halloween," by Alice Schertle
We are big fans of Little Blue Truck at our house, but this book is new to us this year. I love the pictures, the flaps the boys can lift, and the special costume Little Blue Truck wears at the end!

"Go Away Big Green Monster" by Ed Emberley
Hands down, this is my oldest sons favorite book. We have read it multiple times a day, and today he even "read" it on his own! This book is a bit more expensive than your regular Halloween book, but it is worth every penny. Inside, each page has special cutouts to turn and make a big green monster. And, they love that they can make the monster go away! A great book for Halloween, and all year long.

"The Spooky Wheels on the Bus," by J. Elizabeth Mills
This book is the traditional "Wheels on the Bus," song, with a Halloween twist. The pictures are adorable, the cuteness of Halloween is on every page, and it works on counting to 10!

"Pop-Up Peekaboo Pumpkin"
This book was a great find at our Costco last year. The pop ups are sturdy, (don't you just hate when the pop ups break after one or two reads!) and has lasted well through two Halloweens now. The story is simple, but the pop ups are fantastic and make this perfect for little hands to hold and read.

"Ten Timid Ghosts" by Jennifer O'Connell
I love that this book works on counting, finding (my boys love to hunt for the ghosts on each page) and teaches a lesson to be kind. One of our favorites for the past few years!

"Pumpkin Heads" by Wendell Minor
I've had a tough time finding non-fiction books that my boys actually enjoy reading. This is one of the lucky ones we have found that they want to read over and over again. It shows a fun variety of carved pumpkins and how we celebrate Halloween. A great non fiction Halloween book!

What books do would you add as your favorite for Halloween???
